Homework tonight
A 20-minute RoxWhy routine for a stuck homework question. Get a hint, try the next step, and check the work yourself.
You have one stuck question and not much time. The win is to finish that question with understanding, not to generate the whole worksheet.
You will know it worked when you can redo the question on paper without looking at the chat.
Before you open the app
- Attempt the question for two minutes on paper. Write the last line you are sure about.
- Have the worksheet, textbook page, or notes in reach.
- Decide the house rule: hints and checks are allowed; pasting a finished answer into the homework is not.
1. Open Chat and paste the real question
Sign in and open RoxWhy Chat.
Use this prompt:
I am in Year [year], subject [subject]. I have already tried this. Here is the question: [paste]. Here is my working so far: [paste]. Do not give the final answer yet. Tell me whether my last step is valid. Then give one hint for the next step and wait.
If the question is multi-step maths, science, or code, switch the mode to Deep Solve and send the same prompt.
2. Do the next step yourself
Write the next line on paper. Send it back:
This is my next step: [paste]. Is this on the right path? If not, ask me a question that would get me there. Still do not dump the full solution.
Repeat until you can finish, or until you are genuinely blocked after two honest attempts. Only then ask for a worked solution, and copy it onto paper in your own writing.
3. Lock it in with one similar question
Ask:
Give me one similar question at the same difficulty. Wait for my answer. Mark it and tell me the exact mistake if I miss.
Save the original question and the similar one if you have a notebook or Question Bank. That is tomorrow's two-minute warm-up.
If the answer feels generic
- Paste a short extract from the class notes or upload that handout to Knowledge.
- Say: "Use this handout first. If the method is different from the handout, follow the handout."
- For diagrams, use Visualize only after you can name the parts. A picture is not a substitute for the working.
Parents
Sit nearby for the first run. Your job is to keep the student on one question and to stop the session from becoming "just give me the answers."
