Student Guide

How students can start a RoxWhy study session, ask useful questions, use class material, practise recall, and save work.

Student Guide

RoxWhy works best when you treat it as a study workspace, not a search box. Bring the class material, ask a specific question, check the answer against your course, and save the useful parts for later revision.

Start a study session

  1. Open Sign In and enter the account used for RoxWhy.
  2. Open the learning workspace.
  3. Pick one subject, assignment, or exam topic.
  4. Add the notes, readings, or files you want RoxWhy to use.
  5. Ask one clear question.
  6. Turn the answer into practice, a summary, a diagram, a draft, or a revision plan.

Good first questions:

  • "Explain this topic in plain language, then test me with five questions."
  • "Use my uploaded biology notes and help me understand the parts I am missing."
  • "Show the steps for this maths problem and ask me to do a similar one."
  • "Turn these class notes into a study outline for Friday's quiz."
  • "Compare these two ideas and show where students usually get confused."

Use the right mode

Use Chat for quick explanations, examples, and follow-up questions.

Use Deep Solve for harder questions that need planning, reasoning, checking, or multi-step working.

Use Quiz when you want practice questions from your notes, readings, or a topic.

Use Deep Research when you need a structured research path or a cited study report from approved sources.

Use Visualize when a diagram, chart, concept map, or visual example would make the idea easier to understand.

Use Co-Writer when you want to turn notes into an outline, draft, study guide, summary, or revision artefact.

Use Book Builder when you want a topic turned into a structured learning path with chapters, examples, quizzes, and review prompts.

Bring useful context

RoxWhy gives better help when it knows what you are studying from. Use knowledge bases for:

  • Lecture or class notes.
  • Worksheets and teacher handouts.
  • Reading extracts and saved references.
  • Draft outlines and research notes.
  • Exam revision packs.

Keep each knowledge base focused. A biology exam knowledge base and an English essay knowledge base should usually be separate.

Create RoxBots for repeated subjects

Create a RoxBot when you return to the same topic often. A good RoxBot has a clear role, subject, style, and source context.

Examples:

  • "Socratic maths tutor for algebra revision. Ask me questions before giving the answer."
  • "Patient English essay coach. Help me improve structure and evidence."
  • "Biology revision tutor. Use my uploaded notes and quiz me after each explanation."
  • "Programming project tutor. Explain errors and help me reason through fixes."

RoxBots are useful because they keep instructions and memory together. You do not need to rebuild the same setup every session.

Save what matters

Use notebooks and saved material to keep:

  • Short summaries that finally made sense.
  • Mistakes you need to review.
  • Practice questions that exposed weak spots.
  • Useful drafts, outlines, and study guides.
  • Follow-up questions for your teacher or tutor.

Check your work

Before submitting school or university work:

  • Check the answer against the assignment instructions.
  • Verify facts, citations, calculations, and source use.
  • Rewrite in your own voice.
  • Follow your school's AI-use rules.
  • Ask a teacher or tutor when the answer affects marks, placement, or formal assessment.
