First week with Roxy Tutor
Create a Roxy Tutor, complete the diagnostic honestly, follow Today, and finish one Mastery check so the path can start.
Roxy Tutor is for a subject you will return to. Chat explains. The Mastery Path decides what you have actually shown. A fluent conversation does not complete an objective.
You will know it worked when the diagnostic is done, a path exists, and you have finished one Today lesson including its check.

Day 1: create one tutor, one goal
Open Roxy Tutor and choose Create Tutor.
Fill in:
- a name you will recognise
- subject and stage (for example Year 9, Methods, first-year uni)
- one observable goal
- optional target date
- session length, weekly minutes, preferred days, timezone
- how you like to be taught
- any Knowledge Bases that should stay attached
Good goal: "Solve Year 9 linear equations and explain each transformation."
Weak goal: "Get better at maths."
You get one continuing Mastery session for that goal. Extra Tutor chats do not create extra paths.
Day 1, continued: sit the diagnostic yourself
Open Today and start the diagnostic. A new path expects three distinct questions.
- Answer in the interactive card.
- Include working when asked.
- "I don't know" is useful. Guessing as if you knew is not.
- Parents and tutors: do not supply the answers.
When evidence is in, build the path if it does not appear automatically. Open Progress and Why this path so the first objective makes sense.
Days 2 to 7: follow Today
Each session:
- Open the Tutor and read Today. It may be a lesson, a pending question, or a review.
- Attempt the work. Ask for a hint or another explanation if stuck.
- Complete the native check. Chat alone does not mark the objective done.
- Read the feedback. A wrong answer records a gap; it does not wipe the path.
- Stop when the session length is up, even if you want another round.
Use Quiz, Learning Pack, Visualize, Deep Solve, or Deep Research only to prepare. Then return to Today and pass the native check.
On a rest day, Today will say the session is optional. Confirm if you want a catch-up. Missing a day does not reduce Mastery.
End of week: a ten-minute review
Open Progress together if a parent or coach is involved.
Ask:
- What can you explain without help?
- Which mistake repeated?
- Is a question still pending?
- Is a review due?
- Does the goal still match class?
If the path is the wrong subject, change the goal in settings rather than creating a second Tutor for the same job.
