Using the Academic Tracker

The Academic Tracker is a powerful tool available to all user with valid license. It allows you to track your academic performance across subjects, analyze trends, and set goals for improvement. This guide will walk you through setting up and using the Academic Tracker effectively.
Note: The Academic Tracker is only available with a Plus license. If you have a Standard license, you'll need to upgrade to access this feature.

Accessing the Academic Tracker

To access the Academic Tracker:

1. Log in to your Solo User Portal 2. Click on Academic Tracker in the sidebar menu 3. If this is your first time, you'll be guided through the initial setup process

Initial Setup

Before you can start tracking your grades, you'll need to set up your academic structure:

Creating Terms

1. From the Academic Tracker dashboard, click "Add Term" 2. Enter the term name (e.g., "Fall 2023" or "Semester 1") 3. Set the start and end dates for the term 4. Click "Create Term"

You can create multiple terms to organise your academic year.

Adding Subjects

Once you've created a term, you can add subjects:

1. Select the term you want to add subjects to 2. Click "Add Subject" 3. Enter the subject name (e.g., "Mathematics" or "Biology") 4. Optionally, assign a color to the subject for easy identification 5. Set the subject's weight in your overall GPA calculation (if applicable) 6. Click "Add Subject"

Repeat this process for all the subjects you're studying in the current term.

Entering Grades

After setting up your terms and subjects, you can start entering your grades:

1. Navigate to the subject where you want to add a grade 2. Click "Add Assessment" 3. Enter the assessment details: - Assessment name (e.g., "Midterm Exam" or "Project 1") - Assessment type (e.g., "Exam," "Quiz," "Assignment," "Project") - Date of the assessment - Your score (either as a percentage, points, or letter grade) - Weight of this assessment within the subject (if applicable) 4. Click "Save Assessment"

The Academic Tracker supports various grading formats:

  • Percentage grades (e.g., 85%)
  • Point-based grades (e.g., 42/50)
  • Letter grades (e.g., A, B+, C)

You can choose the format that matches your school's grading system.

Viewing Your Academic Dashboard

The Academic Tracker provides a comprehensive dashboard that displays your academic performance:

1. Overview - Shows your overall GPA and performance across all subjects 2. Subject Breakdown - Displays your current grade in each subject 3. Recent Assessments - Lists your most recent grades 4. Performance Trends - Charts your progress over time

You can filter the dashboard by term to focus on specific periods of your academic year.

Analysing Your Performance

The Academic Tracker offers several analytical tools to help you understand your academic performance:

Subject Analysis

1. Click on a specific subject to view detailed performance metrics 2. See a breakdown of all assessments and their contribution to your final grade 3. Identify strengths and weaknesses within the subject

Comparative Analysis

1. Navigate to the "Analytics" tab 2. View side-by-side comparisons of your performance across different subjects 3. Identify subjects that may need more attention

Trend Analysis

1. Navigate to the "Trends" tab 2. View charts showing your performance over time 3. Identify patterns and trends in your academic progress

Setting Academic Goals

The Academic Tracker allows you to set and track academic goals:

1. Navigate to the "Goals" tab 2. Click "Add Goal" 3. Choose the goal type: - Subject Goal - Target grade for a specific subject - Overall GPA Goal - Target GPA across all subjects 4. Set your target grade or GPA 5. Optionally, add notes about your strategy to achieve this goal 6. Click "Save Goal"

The Academic Tracker will track your progress toward your goals and provide insights on what you need to achieve in upcoming assessments to meet them.

Customising Your Grading Scale

You can customise the grading scale to match your school's system:

1. Navigate to Academic Tracker Settings 2. Click on "Grading Scale" 3. Adjust the percentage ranges for each letter grade or GPA value 4. Click "Save Changes"

This ensures that your grades are calculated accurately according to your specific grading system.

Managing Terms and Subjects

As your academic journey progresses, you may need to manage your terms and subjects:

Archiving Terms

When a term ends, you can archive it to keep your dashboard focused on current terms:

1. Navigate to the term you want to archive 2. Click "Archive Term" 3. Confirm the action

Archived terms are still accessible for reference but won't appear in your main dashboard.

Editing or Removing Subjects

If you need to make changes to a subject:

1. Navigate to the subject 2. Click the "Edit" icon 3. Make your changes or click "Remove Subject" 4. Confirm any removal action

Tips for Effective Use

  • Enter grades promptly after receiving them to maintain an accurate record
  • Regularly review your performance analytics to identify areas for improvement
  • Set realistic goals based on your current performance and desired outcomes
  • Use the notes feature to record study strategies or areas to focus on for each subject
  • Export your data periodically for backup or to share with academic advisors
