RoxWhy began in a Brisbane home when Dylan Zhao, a long-time public-sector innovation lead and father, watched his daughter Roxanne struggle to find learning tools that were both engaging and aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Commercial chatbots could spit out facts, but they couldn't speak the language of local classrooms, respect school IT rules, or guide parents who weren't tech-savvy.
Dylan decided to build the missing bridge: an AI learning assistant that meets schools where they are and lifts students where they want to be. The working project code-name—"Roxanne, why?"—soon shortened to RoxWhy, a reminder that genuine learning always starts with a curious "why?".
Today, RoxWhy isn't just another edu-tech app—it's a movement to make world-class, safe AI guidance an everyday right for Australian learners. We invite educators, parents, and policy leaders to join us in shaping the next chapter of Australian education—one "why?" at a time.
