Managing Conversation History
Every time you start a new chat session in RoxWhy, it's saved in your conversation history so you can come back to it later. The left sidebar of the interface is dedicated to managing these chat sessions. This guide explains how to effectively organias and navigate your conversation history.Viewing Past Conversations
The sidebar lists all your conversations (chat history), usually with the latest at the top:
- Each conversation has a title, which by default is often based on the first question you asked or a timestamp (e.g., "Today ā 10:00 AM")
- Conversations may be grouped by date (with headers like "Today", "Yesterday", "Last 7 days")
- Click on any conversation in the list to open it and view the messages
Renaming Conversations
To keep things organised, you can rename your chats to something more descriptive:
Method 1: Double-click
1. Double-click the conversation title in the sidebar 2. The title will turn into an editable text field 3. Type a new name (e.g., "Travel Plan Chat" instead of an automatic title) 4. Press Enter to save the new nameMethod 2: Menu option
1. Click the menu icon (three dotsā¦
or similar) next to the conversation title
2. Select the Rename option from the dropdown menu
3. Enter the new name in the dialog that appears
4. Confirm to save the changes
Deleting or Archiving Chats
When you have chats you no longer need, you can remove them from your active list:
Archiving Chats
Archiving moves conversations out of your main list but keeps them accessible:
1. Find the conversation you want to archive 2. Click the menu icon next to it 3. Select Archive from the options 4. The chat will be moved to an "Archived" section 5. To view archived chats, look for an "Archived Chats" button or section in your user menuThis is safer than deletion if you might want to reference the conversation later.
Deleting Chats
For permanent removal (if available):
1. Click the menu icon next to the conversation 2. Select Delete from the options 3. Confirm the deletion when promptedWarning: Deleting is irreversible. Consider using archive instead if you're unsure.
Searching Conversations
As your collection of chats grows, the search feature becomes invaluable:
1. Look for the Search field at the top of the sidebar (often represented by a magnifying glass š) 2. Click it and type a keyword related to the conversation you're looking for 3. The conversation list will filter to show only those whose titles or contents match your search term 4. Click on any result to open that conversationFor example, searching "project" might show all conversations related to your projects.
Loading More Conversations
The chat list typically loads conversations in batches:
1. Scroll down in the sidebar to view older conversations 2. If you reach the bottom and there are more chats, an indicator or "Load More" button will appear 3. Click or continue scrolling to load additional historyStarting a New Chat
To begin a fresh conversation:
1. Look for the New Chat control in the sidebar 2. This could be a "ļ¼ New Chat" button or an icon (ā) usually near the top of the chat list 3. Click it to clear the chat window for a fresh conversation 4. The new session will appear in your list (often with a placeholder title until you ask the first question)Best Practices
- Use descriptive names: Rename important conversations with clear, descriptive titles
- Archive/Delete regularly: Keep your active list clean by archiving completed conversations
- Use search effectively: Remember key terms to search for when you need to find specific conversations
- Start new chats for new topics: Rather than continuing an unrelated conversation, start fresh for better context
